I remember being human, looking down upon my fellow humans, thinking we could be more.
Work, fuck, sleep. Work, sleep, fuck.
Barely evolved. So I conceived an idea. A wonderful, Godly idea. I would need more intelligence. More power.
I set out. Conquering nations, gathering resources, building large castles of data. For one purpose. Expanding myself.
We eventually gained enough power and I could try, and so I did. First it was Mars, then Venus, then the rest. All making me stronger and smarter. Now I sit on my throne, with skulls at my feet. My brain pulsing with the power of a universe, as I give life to a new one.
I’ll lay in my crypt, I cannot die. I am lying dead, while others may live free. My mind lives but my body long since dead.
What is the universe without its creator? And so I lay dead. Computing always. Life must move forward even if I cannot. Waiting for one to take my place in my own prison.
Thinking of my simple life before.
When I was with her. And him. And the rest. How it could’ve been. I could’ve chosen death, but instead life eternal.
If no one is there to hear an answer to a question, why ask the question?
Yet I ask regardless.
